When it’s time to buy your engagement ring, you should learn some small facts like how the diamond stone is set into the base. It’s necessary to be sure about the diamond setting because if it’s not set correctly, the stone can be displaced easily.

This article will get a guideline on how the diamond stone is set in a claw ring setup. It can be a 4-claw ring, a balled ring, and other types of ring setup.

First, you will need some tools to get started with the claw ring setting. They include a pendant motor, ring clamps, a ball drill, a pusher, a graining tool, and pliers.

In the beginning, you should know that jewellers’ have significant styles and techniques to make the diamond setting. And the set of different ring claw styles won’t match with one another. However, this guideline is fundamental that you can easily follow.

In the first step, keep your ring in the clamp straight. You can use a groove to support the clamp well in this situation. Inspect your diamond stone well before setting it into the ring. Ensure the stone is the right size that would fit into the ring by not covering the claws. Consider having the stone a bit bigger than the gap initially.

Place your diamond stone in the ring’s gap straight and use a pusher to press it inside. Use the burr to drill right where the stone will set. Create a significant groove with the claw. When the drilling is over, you can place the stone perfectly.

Now you are done with the positioning. Get the pliers and squeeze the claws to the opposite to keep it even. Close the claws gently and use your thumb to ease the task. Use the file to round them off and be careful with the stone from getting scratches.

Get the graining tool and add pressure on the rounded edges. Repeat wiggling the file of the claws’ edges. After that, you will notice the diamond stone is perfectly set into the claw setting.
